Coordinate Formulas

For puzzles that give the final as formulas. Paste them in, fill in the values you’ve found, and see every result, the assembled coordinates, and how far they land from the listed ones. It doesn’t know any cache’s answer.

Step 1

The formulas

Paste the cache's formulas, one per line, in the order the puzzle gives them. Names can be single words, several words, or hyphenated; a hyphen with spaces around it is a minus sign.

Use + − × ÷ (or x, *, /), ^ for powers, and brackets. “6 x Name”, “6 Name” and “6(Name)” all multiply; an x between two values means times, otherwise it’s a name. Powers go first, then × and ÷, then + and −, and a multiplication with no sign, like 3A or 2(B), goes before a ÷ next to it. The read-back shows the order in brackets. Labels like “A =” at the start of a line are ignored.

Step 2

The values you found

One box for each name in the formulas. Fill in what you've found; the results update as you type.

Step 3

Results and coordinates

Each line's result, and where it goes. The usual layout is six parts: latitude degrees, minutes and thousandths, then longitude degrees, minutes and thousandths.

    Step 4

How far from the listed coordinates?

A puzzle cache's final must be within 2 miles (3.2 km) of its listed coordinates, so a result much farther away means a wrong value somewhere.

Degrees and decimal minutes (like the cache page shows), or decimal degrees.
